The Teams and Season Overview

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs had a successful 2022 season, finishing with a 14-3 record and earning their third Super Bowl appearance in the past four years under head coach Andy Reid. Despite the loss of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the offseason, the Chiefs had the best offense in the NFL, leading the league in yards and points. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a standout season, making the Pro Bowl for the fifth year in a row and setting a new NFL record for most total yards in a season by a quarterback. In the second year under head coach Nick Sirianni, the Philadelphia Eagles had a successful season, ending with a 14-3 record and advancing to the Super Bowl. Their offense was led by Pro Bowl quarterback Jalen Hurts, who set new career highs in completion percentage, passing yards, and touchdowns, while also rushing for 736 yards and 13 touchdowns. Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Brown, along with second-year receiver DeVonta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert, made up a strong receiving corps. The running game was led by Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders. The Eagles' offensive line also featured three Pro Bowl selections. The defense was also strong, ranking second in the league in fewest yards allowed and setting an NFL record with four players who recorded at least ten sacks. The defensive line featured Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, and Javon Hargrave, while Pro Bowl linebacker Haason Reddick ranked second in the NFL with 16 sacks. In the secondary, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson co-led the NFL with six interceptions, while cornerbacks Darius Slay and James Bradberry were both Pro Bowl selections.

This will be the Eagles' fourth Super Bowl appearance, with previous wins in Super Bowl LII and losses in Super Bowls XV and XXXIX, and three pre-Super Bowl NFL championships.
