Los Angeles is known not only for its musicians but also for its music venues. From the dive bar that gave the greats their start, to the arena that gave them their standing ovations – this city is loud.
We must start with Staples Center because it’s the destination for concerts in Los Angeles. This massive arena hosts pop stars, rock artists and everything in between. Located downtown in the Financial District, it’s accessible from Hollywood, Long Beach, and Santa Monica.

Next up is The Hollywood Bowl, a Los Angeles staple where you hang with 17,499 of your closest Los Angeleno friends. “The Bowl” as it’s called, is an outdoor amphitheater with state-of-the-art acoustics that brings live music to life. From huge headliners like Journey and Phoenix to intimate jazz concerts, The Bowl’s got it.
Pro-Tip: Parking around The Bowl can be nightmarish. Park at the Hollywood and Highland parking structure a few blocks away and walk. The parking maximum for that garage is $15 and it will save you the headache and wallet-woes of parking at the venue.
Nestled in the bustling city of West Hollywood, The Troubadour is a historical landmark that should be on any music-lovers bucket list. This venue, while seemingly humble from the outside, has featured some of the biggest names in music. James Taylor, Steve Martin, Cheech and Chong were all discovered within these hallowed halls. Don Henley and Glen Frye (of “The Eagles”) met at the front bar. Elton John and Billy Joel made their U.S. debuts here.
Don’t forget that Los Angeles is where new and upcoming artists often get their start. Slink into a small venue and be there as the next Cher gets discovered.
