Get Down

Bluebird. Red Rocks. Ogden. No, we’re not talking about the outdoors or Utah—just a few of the longest established and most popular music venues in Denver, CO.

Prolific artists frequently takeover the Mile High’s historic and fresh stages, including recent additions like the New York City-style Nocturne jazz and supper club. The Lumineers planted roots beneath the Meadowlark’s glowing basement lights in River North Art District (RiNo): now one of the hippest neighborhoods in town, decorated block-by-block with radiant graffiti murals, boutiques, and tapas-style restaurants. The Ritz-Carlton is a great option to get the best of both worlds – it’s a short drive from both the art scene in RiNo and the upscale downtown.

Live music paired with endless theater opportunities and five major sports teams makes Denver a desirable place to visit.

Dine Up

Fortunately, before boogying down, a plethora of amazing restaurants are speckled throughout the city featuring award-winning chefs—ahem, Jen Jasinski, winner of the 2013 James Beard Award for Best Chef Southwest, who opened Stoic & Genuine—plus a smattering of food trucks, and breweries.

Recognized as the No. 1 Microbrew Beer city in the country, Denver opened an average of one new brewery every other week in 2013 and into 2014. Now, there are more than 100 in the metro area. Restaurants have experienced a similar burgeon with more than 80 new spots open in the month of August 2014 alone. A stay at the Oxford Hotel downtown puts you right in the middle of everything – and you’ll be within a few blocks of six different breweries!

Go There

To get from point A to B, Denver has a web of easy, fast public transit. The RTD light rail line offers a 37-minute trip from Union Station in downtown to Denver International Airport, with departure every fifteen minutes.

The complimentary Mall Ride is a bus—soon to be 100-percent battery-powered and electric—that runs along 16th Street Mall, a one-mile stretch of restaurants, shops, galleries and theaters.

Or take your own wheels with the Denver B-cycle rentals. Now, 88 stations are up-and-running with 700 bikes available for rent throughout 10 central Denver neighborhoods.

Play outside

Of course, Denver may be best known for its Colorado sunshine. Temperatures are usually moderate in each season and culturally, people love to be outside. Hence the incredible space set aside for recreation, located in the city or the foothills: 4,000 acres of traditional parks and parkways, 300 acres of designated rivers & trails, and an additional 14,000 acres of mountain parks. You won’t believe the number of volleyball teams that cover Washington Park in the summer! No matter if you’re looking for a spot to picnic, jog, or slackline, you’ll find a green space nearby.

Welcome to Denver. Whether you’re here for a concert, sports showdown, theatrical performance, or just to explore, there’s plenty waiting.
